GHOSTWOMAN itself only exists because Uschenko and van Dessel were the ones “stupid enough to commit to it”. Conceived by Uschenko after cutting his teeth as a touring multi-instrumentalist, the project was brought to life in an abandoned farmhouse in Diamond City, Alberta. There, for two months, he would make the self-released, self-titled debut album which was produced and dubbed directly to custom-made cassette tapes. Expanded by friends on the Edmonton circuit, Uschenko took the project over the pond where he would meet drummer Ille van Dessel. GHOSTWOMAN became a head-on collision between the switchblade rust of his guitars and her caustic drum beats which march them on toward a shared oblivion. Musically, GHOSTWOMAN are a sharper beast than ever: hypnotic spells of psych-grunge, decaying Americana and instrumental locked-horns. Welcome to the Civilized World is an album to be a pure distillation of their shared vision. “Alive”, the record’s lead single, was written on a particularly perfect day in rural Belgium. From its earliest sketch to its final form, the only people to touch it were GHOSTWOMAN themselves. The band will continue to play as the ship goes down.
boy wonder is a musician and filmmaker from Toronto. He is not Drake's producer.
He originally founded alt-pop band CHASING AMEE in 2008 prior to premiering on MuchMusic for their first ever performance on the television show ‘disBAND’. The band toured Canada until 2012 before parting ways. In 2015 he released music under the name ‘The Pink Flowers’, getting notable accolades from outlets such as NME. Following this, he began to focus on directing, until 2019 when he released his first EP under the moniker ‘boy wonder’. The follow up was 2021’s ‘KINDA BLUE TOO’ which received a 7/10 review from Exclaim! magazine, as well as other notable outlets. The album featured video portraits of 10 people that he has met around the city of Toronto, which he considered to be like a dinner party of all of the beauty that he finds in people. To coincide with this record, Faist embarked on a 20 date US tour with Australia’s Last Dinosaurs in June of 2022 and had appearances at notable festivals such as SXSW and New York City’s New Colossus Festival in 2023 and 2024. He started 2025 off by supporting Dune Rats on their US/CAN tour. He is currently recording his 2nd LP, with the first single to be released in the fall of 2025.
