A gig held at Four Quarters on Thursday 14th March. The event starts at 19:30.

Ilaina Lowe supported by BIMM Bristol students; Anou, Leo Hall, Benji Grut, opened and organised by Max Sloan.

Ilaina Lowe is a singer-songwriter based in Bristol. Accompanying herself on bouzouki or guitar, she likes to sing folksy and soulful ditties, drawing inspiration from artists such as Vashti Bunyan, Ichiko Aoba and Lianne La Havas.

Anou is an indie jazz-inspired singer-songwriter and artist who blends her French-English roots with her introspective lyricism to create honest and intimate songs. With soft soulful sounds inspired by musicians such as Stacey Kent and Ella Fitzgerald, Anou writes introspective tunes born from evening walks in rural Herefordshire and co-produced in her home studio with her partner.

Her latest track, Sparks, a cover of one of Coldplay’s classics, peaked at 5th on the Amazing Radio USA charts and her performances have been regarded as “refreshingly different” in local reviews.

Now based in Bristol as a music student, Anou continues to travel around Somerset and Monmouthshire for the natural inspiration in her process of writing her debut EP. She hopes to bring a sense of peace and tranquillity to her listeners through her music.

When a seventeen-year-old Leo told his family and friends that he was going to get up onstage at one of the upcoming Wembley Stadium shows of his favourite band, Coldplay, and play with them, nobody could foresee that a few months later he would do just that. Since that moment, he’s been aspiring to get back on that exact stage - but this time with his own songs.

Having grown up in North London, Leo began playing and writing music from an early age and really found his passion for it during school. His first performances outside of school came in the form of various pub gigs and parties with a cover band, named “Fudge” and made up of his friends, that became a hit with the local area.

Inspired by the likes of The Beatles, Queen and more recently FINNEAS, Billie Eilish and other artists of his generation, Leo released his debut single, Lose You Now, on the 23rd February. Having been influenced by Lewis Capaldi’s ballads and referencing this for the framework, it’s an entirely self-produced, mixed and mastered (from his university dorm room) release reflecting on the beauty of a relationship.

Benji Grut is a indie singer/songwriter and guitarist from Guernsey. Also know as the Mario Kart Guy. His music is inspired by artists such as Coldplay, Artic monkeys, Bill wurtz, Ed Sheeran, Jacob collier and Cave Town. He studies drums and songwriting at Bimm Bristol and plays a variety of different instruments.
He started off on the drums at age 8 and has been developing his songwriting on ukulele and guitar for over 6 years. He recently won the over 18s busking festival in guernsey and was picked out of over 100 acts that performed!

Organising and opening the gig is indie folk artist Max Sloan from Belfast, starting off the night with some acoustic originals
