acoustic jazz trio at Friendly Records
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Friendly Records treat us once again to some jazz-inflected wonders. Duski draw on film soundtracks and the dark textures of Welsh dusk to create weightless, gorgeous double bass and tenor sax soundscapes. Fans of Colin Stetson, Ben Vince, Miles Davis and Twin Peaks will swoon in their seats. "

A gig held at Friendly Records on Wednesday 22nd February. The event starts at 19:30.

Conversations between tenor saxophone & double bass entwine with a percussive groove of the kit drum; drawing out delicate notes that allow space for reflection with brooding overtones of tension ever-present. Aidan Thorne struts along the double bass, bowing earthly drones for Greg Sterland's searching tenor saxophone over the top of Mark O Connor's backbeat. Exciting players on the jazz & new music scene in Wales with echoes of the considered & melancholic European jazz sound of early Portico Quartet and the ECM catalogue.

Aidan Thorne- double bass
Greg Sterland - tenor saxophone
Mark O Connor - drums

We're really excited to welcome their return to Friendly Records for two 45 minute sets. The last time they visited was to celebrate the release of their brilliant Pillow Talk album and our reopening post covid. We've come some way.
