Ballamy and Williams are perfectly matched and supremely balanced in this set celebrating the harmonic genius of Bill Evans.A pioneer of post bop and modal jazz, Evans rose to prominence after playing on the legendary and iconic Miles Davis album ‘Kind of blue’ before becoming a key figure as a composer and leader of his trio with Scott La Faro.
The music is sophisticated and deep with almost orchestral harmonic qualities and a uniquely reflective character. Gareth Williams is recognized for his profound understanding of Evans’ music and his ability to portray it with the emotional gravitas it demands.

Saxophonist and composer IAIN BALLAMY is recognized internationally as an original, uncompromising and forward-thinking musician.
His work is eclectic, contemporary and un-encumbered by formality and tradition as is clearly evident in his writing commissions for the London Sinfonietta, Henri Oguike Dance Company and the soundtracks for films ‘Luna’ and ‘Mirrormask’ for film director Dave McKean.
Ballamy has forged strong and ongoing musical relationships with musicians around the globe, touring and currently recording for ECM records with his projects ‘Food’ and ‘Quercus’ featuring Huw Warren and folk singing legend June Tabor.
Highlights of a career spanning nearly 30 years include working with Loose Tubes, Bill Bruford’s Earthworks, Hermeto Pascoal, Django Bates, Kenny Werner, Gil Evans, George Coleman, John Taylor, June Tabor, Richard Rodney Bennett's 'Concerto for Stan Getz', Ian Shaw, Claire Martin, Everything but the Girl, Mike Gibbs, Carla Bley and many more.
Ballamy teaches at the Royal Academy and Guildhall school of music in London.

GARETH WILLIAMS - described as “a jewel of a player…spinning out luminous introductions and codas” by Jazziz Magazine (USA), he has dazzled audiences not only by his virtuosic approach to the piano, but also by his talents on guitar and as a singer. He describes his musical references as Bill Evans, Welsh Tenor David Lloyd, Big Bill Broonzy, Mahler, Coltrane and Thin Lizzy. Playing credits include Us3, Claire Martin for whom he acted as MD and performances worldwide with Jim Mullen, Art Farmer, Bud Shank, James Moody, George Coleman, Dave Liebman, Martin Taylor,Tommy Smith, Tim Garland, Trish Clowes and Iain Ballamy.
