Pianist Horace Silver was one of the true jazz greats, and composed a huge number of memorable tunes across a performing career which started in the early 1950s and was to last for over fifty years. A pioneer of the hard-bop style and co-founder of the Jazz Messengers, his style developed to include blues, gospel and funk influences. Trumpeter Andy Hague has been leading this tribute to Silver for more than a decade, but the band’s repertoire continues to expand and develop with a wealth of material to choose from by the prolific and brilliant composer.
Always at their rip-roaring best they only play at Fringe Jazz once a year so make sure you don't miss tonight's gig.
