The major International Jazz musician Andy Sheppard needs no introduction here in his home town but there may be a number of you who are not familiar with the remarkable Double Bass and Trumpet playing Mr Pursglove -
Percy Pursglove is best known in Bristol as a member of Andy Sheppard's brilliant quartet Hotel Bristol, for his gigs at Fringe Jazz with PERDATO (with Dan Moore and Tony Orrell) and for his guest appearance with Iain Ballamy last year. On the national scene Birmingham based Pursglove is gradually becoming recognised as a major talent. A graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire and the New School University, New York City the brilliant Double Bass and Trumpet has established a phenomenal reputation having worked and recorded with some of the leading musicians of the jazz world including Dave Holland, Norma Winstone, Peter Erskine, Chris Potter, Vince Mendoza, Iain Ballamy, Bill Frissell, Paul Dunmall, Dave Liebman, Michael Gibbs, Phil Woods, Evan Parker, Django Bates, Victor Bailey, Steve Swallow, Louis Moholo and Alex Hawkins.
Andy and Percy know each others playing really well and it was after a storming Hotel Bristol gig at Fringe Jazz in April that the pair hatched the idea of performing as a duo. This their very fist live performance is going to be a very special evening.
