A very special percussion workshop with Mestre Hugo Leonardo, of Maracatu Nação Leão Da Campina!
Representing the Carnival culture of Maracatu, Mestre Hugo is the musical director of Maracatu Nação Leão da Campina, one of the most well-known of all the Maracatu groups today. Growing up in the religious culture of "Candomblé Angola", as the son of a Mãe de Santo (Priestess), Hugo has been immersed in this culture since birth.
Hugo is an expert teacher, with many years of experience teaching Maracatu drumming around the world. This workshop will be suitable for all drummers of different experience levels and will include instrumental technique, new rhythms and songs for you all to get your head around!
It's truly an honour to be working with Hugo again, for the 6th year, and we hope that as many of you will join us as possible!
Workshop is priced at £25 but please, if you are struggling, message Afon Sistema via INSTAGRAM as we would never want finances to stand in the way of anything.
The workshop will be held at Glenfrome Primary School, doors at 12.30 ready to kickoff at 14.00 until 16.00
