ECLECTIC MAKUMBA at Hamilton House, 80 Stokes Croft, St Paul's, Bristol BS1 3QY
See event details

A event on Saturday 16th December. The event starts at 19:00.

QUASI is finally launching the first issue of their magazine.

Earthworker will be performing with his sample based electronic music, expect casette tapes and drum machines.

More artists tbc...

Eclectic Makumba gathers artworks closely tied to the symbiotic relationship between humans and technological advancement, and the different perceptions of a not-far cyborg society in which we will all be in need of external apparatuses. Taking references from eclectic theories and representing divergent perspectives, these artists are able to establish conversations and raise reflections on automation and its impact on our relationship with nature and one another.
With the contribution of 30 artists and interviews fully accessible through our devices, this issue speculates real or virtual alternative solutions to the fast-decaying world, the objectification of living beings, and the nostalgia for a now-lost optimism for the future.

If you've never opened your spam folder hoping for a life-changing opportunity;
If you’ve never lost or broken your phone and felt like losing part of yourself;
If you've ever felt easier to reveal bad news in person rather than write it in a text message;
If you feel like you know more than your laptop about life on Earth;
If you've never felt overwhelmed by the content bombardment we receive daily;
If you’re not scared an automated machine could soon substitute your work position;
If you've never escaped real-life problems by being hypnotised in front of a device;
If you've never suspected that real life must be elsewhere, somewhere beyond the internet,
off the socials, over the land and the blue;
If there is no part of you left unfulfilled by E-subscriptions and sharp digital technology—

then perhaps, this event is not for you.
But if you have a secret self, you should be there...
