A Be-Bop Club Promotion Ticket link https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-be-bop-club/t-jyzmgq Guitarist Steve Banks has assembled an outstanding line-up for his new group. The quintet is his first project as leader, in which he debuts his own original compositions encompassing deep contemporary grooves, Brazilian and swing influences, lush harmonies and memorable melodic hooks. The rich and dynamic musical landscapes created by the quintet are redolent of The Impossible Gentlemen, Maria Schneider, Fred Hersch and Bill Frisell, providing a showcase for Steve’s expressive, resonant and distinctive voice. Joining Steve are one of Bristol's favourite sax players Nick Dover, superb pianist and composer Rebecca Nash and first-call rhythm team Jules Jackson - bass and Mark Whitlam - drums. Rebecca's own album Peaceful King has picked up incredible reviews ["at the vanguard of innovative and compelling new music" - Downbeat] and Steve has been described in Jazzwise as "evoking Metheny-esque lyricism."
