A event held at The Ill Repute on Sunday 5th July. The event starts at 19:30.
A STAR IS BORN TONIGHT…
WILL SHE LIVE TO TELL THE TALE?
Join us at Fistful of Film for Dario Argento’s second entry into our All the Colours of Giallo series. Five years after Tenebre, Argento lifts the curtain on a twisted tale of a fan turned masked assailant in 1987's 'Opera'.
When Cecova is chased out the theatre by ravens and hit by a passing car, her apprehensive understudy, Betty (Cristina Marsillach) has to step into the role of Lady Macbeth. For Betty the curse of the ‘Scottish Play’ is more tangible than for most as she is harassed by a killer hellbent on murdering everyone she knows.
In Opera, Argento goes straight for the throat, and the eyes…
With a soundtrack which swerves between Brian Eno and operatic highs, alongside killer-raven action sequences, Opera is a must see backstage tour of the psyche of a killer.
