Harry Lime is dead…but by what means? Murdered, according to his childhood friend Holly Martins (Joseph Cotton), who becomes convinced of a conspiracy theory against him, all while at the same time falling head-over-heels for Lime’s old lover Anna Schmidt (Alida Valli).

On Sunday August 9th, SOMETHING OF THE NIGHT brings you The Third Man (1949). Set in the rubble of post-war Vienna, this is one of the great Film Noirs, and one of the more celebrated films of British cinema. 

It’s packed with great names, from Graham Greene, who wrote the screenplay and the novella the film was based on; a memorably eccentric score from Anton Karas played on a zither; and Orson Welles, who puts in an unforgettable cameo that has gone down in cinema history.
