A event held at The Ill Repute on Wednesday 15th October. The event starts at 20:00.

Meet your new best friend…

On Wednesday 15th October, Be Kind Rewind Bristol + Bristol Queer Cinema Club** drag you deeper into Halloween season at The Ill Repute with the slimy, psychedelic cult horror Brain Damage (1988).

From Frank Henenlotter (Basket Case), this is a gloriously unhinged descent into addiction, hallucination, and body horror. Brian, an ordinary New Yorker, wakes up one morning to find he’s become the host to Aylmer; a centuries-old parasite who injects his brain with euphoric blue juice… in exchange for a steady diet of human victims.

What follows is a trip unlike any other: neon-drenched city nights, surreal hallucinations, and some of the wildest practical effects the ’80s ever produced. Both a black-comedy splatterfest and a razor-sharp allegory for dependency, Brain Damage is as funny as it is disturbing and once you’ve seen it, you’ll never forget it.

• The Ill Repute, Old Market – downstairs cinema room
• Doors 7pm / Film 8pm sharp – no late entry, limited seating
• Free entry, no booking needed
• Cocktails & drinks upstairs — grab one and bring it down

** Bristol Queer Cinema Club is a casual meetup group that visits local cinemas across Bristol to watch new releases, cult classics, re-releases, indie and everything in between.

A message from BQCC host Izzy:

“Horror is a rich tapestry for queer expression. We see ourselves in the shocking, the perverse, the deviant, the monstrous. Our experiences blend with the terrors we see on screen. We lay wait in our closets and scare the village kids when we emerge: like movie monsters, causing panic and fear. We interrupt the body. But the intersection is undeniable. We are “other”, we threaten and we inspire.

So I’m psyched to collab with Be Kind Rewind Bristol to host a handful of queer horror film offerings across October. Thank you so much for having us!

Find the club on IG, FB and WhatsApp.”
