Amri at The Jam Jar
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Bristol's latest young RnB songstress explodes into our consciousness with her debut coming-of-age EP, unleashed with a full live band. Amri’s compositions meld the jazz-inflected soul-pop perfection of Amy Winehouse or Stevie Toddler with something that’s just undeniably…..Amri. This is definitely a name you’ll be hearing more of! Amri
+ Anna Colette, Aloka

amri fuses her roots in Indian Carnatic music into her much-loved Soul and R&B to create a fresh new colourful sound. Celebrating the release of her debut EP ’grooves in a SMILE’ amri brings together her brilliant band to open the world of her music for you to feel, sing and move with her.

Her lyrics touch on her exposure in the world as a young woman of colour; translating this into both lyric and sound. Born and primarily brought up in London alongside Guernsey, she draws from these experiences in her writing. With so many inspirations she branches from, her soulful, sweet melodies will surely hold a piece of something you love.

‘grooves in a SMILE’ is made up of tracks delving into smooth, sultry fusions; encompassing jazz into a unique take in blending Indian Carnatic. The six have been written over the last few years till the present, showcasing her stories whilst putting a spin on her unique sound. Following the popular releases of both her debut single ‘Gold Armour’ and second; ‘Brew You Tea’, this debut EP release show will be buzzing with energy. Joined by both horns and a sitar for the first time, the night will be one you definitely can’t miss!
