RUMBA DE BODAS
“Rumba De Bodas” was formed in 2008 by eight young people from Bologna, driven by their love of music and adventure. In this spirit, the band hit the road gaining a severe reputation for turning every concert they attended into a wild party. Infusing Ska and Funk sounds with Latin and Afro rhythms, their musicianship shines brightest in their ability to make the crowds ecstatic. Rumba De Bodas is known for navigating every type of stage but never losing their vision to overthrow the conventional order with a big beat.
With growing appreciation for their sound, the group traveled far and wide, participating in major festivals in Italy and abroad (Boomtown Fair, Fusion Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Cous Cous Festival, Irlanda in Festa, Montreux Jazz Festival, Seoul Music Week 2019, SulaFest 2020).
After reorganizing their lineup (eight became seven) and rethinking their sound, the band produced Just Married (2012) and Karnaval Fou (2014), selling out public squares and dance halls across Europe! 2018 marked the release of their third studio endeavor, Super Power (Irma Records). In 2020, after finishing a tour, the band returned to the limelight with their single Isole (2020). June 2021 saw the release of the single Rimini Minivan (2021, Rubik Media GER).
Following another reformation in July, the band finally returned to the stage with the Minivan Tour 2021, performing across Europe, including Germany (Fusion Festival 2021), Switzerland, Albania (Hemingway Festival 2021), France, Austria (Saalfeden Music Festival 2021) and Italy. After the tour ended in October, the band once again returned to the studio Ciao Mare (R.Casadei) in January 2022 to record an original Rumba De Bodas-style cover, a song which the group has been performing on international stages for many years, honoring their origins as true Ambassadors of Romagna to the world!
After an invitation in February 2022 to Casa SIAE "Sulle strade della musica" for the Sanremo Festival 2022, the Rumba returned to the studio in April, releasing a new single, Krabu (Rubik Media). It is a song about the world and discovery inspired by African music traditions and reinterpreted in their Rumba style.
After an intense summer tour traversing stages from the Stoccarda Des Kulturen Festival, Botanique of Bologna, to the renowned Sysiphos Club of Berlin and sharing stages with the Mirko Casadei Orchestra at the Rimini Balamondo Festival, the single Todo Mundo (Rubik Media) was released in October.
The accompanying music video was filmed in collaboration with the Civic Film School "Luchino Visconti" in Milan and presented as a preview for the Milan Music Week 2022 at the Nidaba Theatre Club. With the release of its new single Fête des Mouvements (Rubik Media) on January 27, 2023, the band is preparing for its fourth album titled "Yen Ko" (which means "let's go" in the Twi language of Ghana), which will officially be released on March 3, 2023. With a South America tour scheduled for March and April, the Rumba is excited to start 2023 with a bang and is on track to light up stages worldwide!
