Red Kite is led by pianist Esben Tjalve and features italian trumpeter Fulvio Sigurta, Austrian guitarist Hannes Riepler, plus the strong rhythm section consisting of Jasper Høiby (3Elements, Planet B) and Marc Michel (Planet B, John Hollenbeck). Red Kite has previously released the album Theory of Colours to critical acclaim which was recognised with an invitation to play the European showcase at Jazzahead in Bremen. This concerts marks the release on the Babel Label of their new album Popludium The instrumentation of Red Kite with trumpet, guitar, keyboards, piano, bass and drums creates a colourful fresh sound and the moods in the music vary from cinematic noir ballads to groovy car chase scenarios, creating a cinematic universe reminiscent of Miles Davis and Arve Henriksen. Red Kite is a pan-European Danish/English/Italian quintet that blends a conglomerate of musical genres into a vibrant and modern jazz style emphasising each individual musicians personal playing style.
