Community x Arts x Tech Meet-up: Pride Special at Knowle West Media Centre

A event on Today. The event starts at 18:00.

Knowle West Media Centre's 'Community x Art x Tech Meetup' is a free monthly meet-up for creatives and technologists interested in making things happen in/with communities. Whether you already work with communities or are curious to begin, you’re welcome here - all that’s needed is a genuine interest in community-centred, collaborative ways of making.

This meetup will centre LGBTQIA+ artist voices and lived experience. This space is for everyone. We particularly encourage allies to come along.

Schedule:

6:00 - 6:20 Arrive at KWMC - `Grab some free light dinner and explore our little pop-up LGBTQIA+ zine library (please bring your favourite zine to lend to the library for the evening if you'd like!). We'll also have ‘Queer Phone’ on display, where you can listen to queer poetry, sounds, and/or leave a voicemail. "Could a telephone line offer more intimate and meaningful ways of communicating with our community as queer people? Can we use audio to form new intimacies, express new stories and build resilient networks outside of the umbrella of Big Tech?"

6:20 - 6:30 Intro - Chloe Meineck (she/they)(KWMC Digital Arts Producer, artist, and Co-Founder of Bristol Butch Bar, Queer Death Cafe and Queer Dinners) will give a small intro to queer community building, queering tech and queer strategies.

6:30 - 6:40 Haz - Haz Horobin-Worley (they/them), a creative software engineer, artist and co-founder of Queer Tech Bristol, will introduce their creative tech practice of making interactive art, tools and apps inspired by low tech solutions.

6:45 - 8:00 Dream Net Workshop with Haz - Through conversations and collaging, we’ll explore our feelings on the current state of technology and the internet, then create a manifesto zine asking: "What would the internet be if we built it from scratch?"

Please let us know if you have any access needs which you'd like support with, and we’ll do our best to meet them.
