Headfirst Editor's Pick

"A special gathering for the teetotal queers! Boussé baddie Gender Criminal is at the Loko helm with drag artistry and emcee theatrics, alongside Juju’s goth-pop melodrama, baroque electro from Kerensa, and rising underground star DJ Slaggamuffin keeping things moving with bass and baile funk bangers. Bristol Sober Spaces and Sober Queers are teaming up to host a night of live music, DJs and drag from 6 - 9pm! Featuring our residents Slaggamuffin and Gender Criminal with guest performances from Juju and Kerensa. Dry but not Juiceless! Accessibility: Please note this is a standing event, but accessible seating is available. To arrange a companion ticket, please [email protected] and please contact us if you have any accessibility needs you wish to let us know about. The venue accessibility information can be found here https://www.locoklub.com/access-info/ Juju Juju is a gothic rock force who merges heavy synths, thunderous guitars, and a cinematic imagination drawn from fantasy and fiction. Offstage, Juju is a thoughtful, introspective artist. Onstage, she becomes a magnetic presence — intense, powerful, and unapologetically dark. Her performances channel the raw grit of PJ Harvey, the mystique of Kate Bush, and the fire of Florence + The Machine. Slaggamuffin Hailing from the cultural hub that is Bristol, Slaggamuffin pulls influence from all areas of the globe. You may have seen them making waves in the underground queer scene blessing venues such as Trinity, Strange Brew and Lakota or heard them on their residencies on Void radio or Transgression FM. You’ll never know what to expect from a Slaggamuffin show but whether it be rough riding or smooth sailing, Slagga runs tunes for moving hips and shaking booty. Kerensa Breaking the pop mould, Kerensa is a gender and genre fluid artist you will never unsee (in the best way). Singing in both English and Mandarin, this classically trained dual heritage being embraces and blends all of their identities in one and ties them together with a neat, theatrical operatic vocal bow. With dramatic ups and downs, Kerensa keeps you guessing. This London based self-producing artist has been busy. They have played venues such as Southbank Centre and Rough Trade Bristol, been on tour with Sounds Queer X Sofar Sounds last summer, and have released two new singles this year with more set for next year. Kerensa is bound to be the next name you add to your favourite playlist. Kerensa is a creature whose storytelling will transport you into worlds they’ve created in their mind. You’ll be glad you went on the journey with them. Gender Criminal (Host and performer) Introducing the GENDER JESTER, Bristol's sleepiest hypeman host and PROVINCE PRINX Gender Criminal! GC is the SCOUNDREL of the South-West, a high politi-camp, artistic alchemist moving across drag, body queering, raw emotional explorations and threshold crossing performances. Nothing is safe from his piercing reimagination. Father of Bristol’s T4T production troupe House of Boussé, he'll take you on a surreal serenade through his rambunctious ramblings, ruthless optimism and authentic tyrannical trans chaos.

Entry requirements: 14+, any under 18s accompanied by 21+ adult 1:1 ratio
