Following their launch in April, bringing Soulection-affiliate DJ/producer Jarreau Vandal to Bristol for the first time in 6 years, Reload Sound are back - this time teaming up with London function Passionfruit, fresh off the back of their Shangri-La takeover at Glastonbury.
Taking place on Friday 1st September, the first night of the FORWARDS Festival (headlined on the night by Erykah Badu) at the Bristol Downs, we’ll be joined by Children of Zeus’ Konny Kon, and Rinse FM resident and edits queen Jordss, with more to be announced.
Konny Kon is a DJ, MC, beatmaker and NTS resident best known as one half of Children of Zeus, a soul project from two of Manchester’s most respected artists alongside Tyler Daley. He was previously a member of Broke’N’English alongside fellow Mancunians DRS and Strategy.
Jordss is a London based DJ and producer, Rinse FM resident and founder of ‘Girls Can’t DJ’. She plays recognisable favourites infused with electronic twists. Never afraid to throw a curveball or three, Jordss draws influences from her Caribbean roots and blends them with gritty London garage, soul and dance.
Reload Sound is inspired by our love of Hip Hop, RnB, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Future beats, UK Rap, Reggae, Soul, Amapiano, the UK Bass music spectrum and Soundsystem culture.
A project that started as two friends drawing for some of their favourite classic records and paying homage by editing and remixing them during the pandemic has inevitably led to them wanting to showcase that music and energy alongside their favourite selectas in a club setting.
Passionfruit is a new genre-spanning party that has been curated to celebrate musical communities and club cultures around the world. Co-founded by one of Rinse FM’s newest residents (previously Worldwide FM) Esk, A&R Jason Ngimbi, and Creative Director Oscar Ingham. They bring their function to Bristol for the first time, following sold out events with the likes of Kareem Ali, Catching Cairo, Planet Giza, Capo Lee and more.
“Passionfruit exists to celebrate global club cultures and soundsystem music - we wanted to start a party that will connect communities on the dance-floor.”
