A
clubnight
held at Lost Horizon
on Friday 12th August. The event starts at 22:00.
Misscoteque returns to Lost Horizon with the first instalment of our brand spanking new monthly residency.
Misscoteque creates an intentional space centred upon queer joy and gender inclusivity. We reimagine Bristol’s late twentieth-century lesbian disco scene in a twenty-first century context, gathering the legacies of those underground spaces and reconstructing them at louder, prouder, aesthetic and sonic volume. We run a FLINT policy, meaning we welcome anyone and everyone who identifies as female, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, and/or trans. In particular, moving forwards as a collective and a night, Misscoteque opens its arms towards the older members of our community. Lesbian pubs and clubs were once the site of a beautiful intersection of ages and queer experiences, where one could go to feel nurtured and empowered by a chosen family. We want to celebrate and revive this.
The event will be soundtracked by an incredible line-up of queer female, trans, and non-binary DJs. Residents DJ Ammi, sadsugar, and Jamurai as well as guests Pearl and Nigel Grace will be serving disco-inspired bassy vibrations of all flavours, including but not limited to straight up disco, synthy 80s pop, feel-good old skool house, and a healthy dose of uplifting UKG.
