Fabrice Franck Henri, otherwise known as Guts, is a French producer and DJ who has enjoyed a cult following ever since his solo debut with Le Bienheureux a decade ago. 2011's follow up Paradise For All and 2014's Hip Hop After All cemented his name as a worldwide talent who mixes jazz, soul and hip hop to devastating effect.
But his crowning work is his Beach Diggin' series, a collection of blissfully hidden gems that have been used as a gold mine by the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jeremy Underground and other seasoned selectors.
Guts celebrates the launch of his new album ‘Estrellas’, with a documentary screening of how the album was produced, joined by NORBERTO RODRIGUEZ , who will also be playing a live 1hr 30 set, with KUMAR SUBLEVAO-BEAT gracing the stage and our ears with a 1hr set, with GUTS giving a 4hr set across the evening, of the works of the “ESTRELLAS” and a classic GUTS selection going across all borders of his musical creations, and influences. This is not one to miss.
We begin the evening with the screening of the 1hr long making of the ESTRELLAS album, a composition of 16 tracks, 25 artists, across 15 days in Dakar between several languages, explaining the journey GUTS and his ensemble went on to create such a merge of cultures and inspirations.
After the screening, the legendary interviewer Haseeb Iqbal will host a interview with GUTS - Nortberton Rodriguez (who will also perform a 30-minute live set)- and KUMAR SUBLEAVEO - BEAT with a live Q&A. As this comes to a close Bristol resident and upcoming DJ KITTY will take the the decks as we re-engage the space for the evening ahead, bringing us on a journey of afro, cuban and jazz.
