Roasted was founded at the steps of Vibe 101 FM on Baldwin Street in 2004. Ben was a bright eyed, slim(mer), young DJ, a keen collector of House & Garage influenced by London's Sunday Scene (think Frog & Nightgown, Elephant & Castle, Gass Club & pirate radio stations such as Passion FM & Freek FM), later Sun City, La Cosa Nostra etc, looking to put on a music night he felt was under-represented in Bristol at the time. He approached Deli G, already a well-established DJ, with a vast history of dance music knowledge and immense collection to rival any global DJ. so began ROASTED! A partnership still going strong, bringing the sounds of the US and UK to a soulful and energetic dancefloor.
We started weekly late-night Sundays at Bar Latino, Timbuktu, then on to the legendary Tube before moving to the Love Inn (one-off specials), attracting all sorts of crazy, lovely people who don't work Mondays. Memories of the crowd at the Kerri Chandler party being asked to sing lyrics that he would record for one of his new albums at 7am, Danny Rampling and the sparklers, Deli breaking the "Fish Go Deep - Cure & The Cause" track mixing between the dub & vocal version to a packed dancefloor for 25 minutes, bringing Todd Edwards to Bristol for the first time, are some of the highlights over the years!
We love to invite guests to our intimate parties, Kerri Chandler, Todd Edwards, Danny Rampling, Marshall Jefferson, Booker T, Supa D, MJ Cole, Ramsey & Fen, CJ Mackintosh, Sean McCabe, DJ Romain to name a few.
Lost Horizon will be our largest venue to date, and what better way to celebrate this than with 2 absolute pioneers of the UK Garage sound, Matt "Jam" Lamont (Tuff Jam, Happy Days), Jeremy Sylvester (Nice N Ripe, Club Asylum and much more), alongside A for Alpha who is smashing it right now.
We hope to see a lot of old friends who have supported us over the years and meet new faces too!
