A clubnight held at Lost Horizon on Saturday 13th May. The event starts at 21:00.

As a finale for the Acid Jazz week at Lost Horizon, La Bomba brings you an Afro-Latin extravaganza with the La Bomba debut from excellent Bristol Salsa Orchestra, plus a very special DJ set for one of the scene's pioneers and stalwarts, DJ Snowboy!

Bristol Salsa Orchestra

Bristol Salsa Orchestra, is the fruit of a project conceived by its manager, the Guatemalan entrepreneur, cultural promoter and director of "Bristol Salsa Congress" William Velazquez, and also by its director, the Cuban trumpet player, composer, musical director, producer and pedagogue, Michel Padron.

Bristol Salsa Orchestra is a band formed by the best musicians in the city, such as Maestro Jim Blomfield, one of the most renowned exponents of the piano in the jazz scene in the country, Ricardo "Piki" Fernandez (lead vocalist of ASERE, Salsa Celtica and other reputable brands in the Latin/European universe), and with musicians in high demand for their quality and versatility such as Jon Clark on timbales, Jason Gaines on Congas, Julian Segura on Bass, Jonny Bruce on trumpet, Ivan Moreno on lead vocals and Craig Crofton on Saxophone; all of them under the direction of Michel Padrón on trumpet.

With the release of their first single, "Dime si te Gusta", composed by Ricardo "Piki" Fernandez, this Bristolian Orchestra has been on all the digital platforms, and although it is their first release they are already starting to receive orders and digital downloads of the song in Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, USA, UK, Spain, Australia, etc.

DJ Snowboy

Latin percussionist, recording artist and band leader, Snowboy, has also been a DJ since the classic Jazz Funk days of 1978 where he used to hire out the UK’s No 1 Black music night club, ‘The Goldmine’ (made famous by the legendary Chris Hill), at the age of 17 to put on special Jazz Funk nights. It was his knowledge of Jazz, Latin, Funk and Soul records that inspired him to take up percussion and has since made 16 albums and 22 Latin, Funk and Soul singles and recorded and played with artists such as Lisa Stansfield, James Taylor Quartet, Jon Lucien, Sam Dees, Imelda May, Mick Hucknall, Mica Paris and Incognito.

As a DJ, along with Keb Darge he was one of the originators of the world-famous club night ‘Deep Funk’, spawning a world-wide scene under that clubs name. He was a resident at The Jazz Café for 16 years, The Blue Note in Hoxton, London, and he ran the world’s number one real Jazz Dance night,’The Hi-Hat’ for 13 years – which attracted dancers from all over the country. He regularly performs all over the world in countries such as Australia, Greece, the USA, Singapore, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Bangkok, Norway, the UK, Canada and Spain.

Plus, of course, La Bomba Residents John Stapleton and Boom Operator
