Irie Heights proudly present Legends of Roots Reggae featuring for the first time together on stage in the UK, living legends The Abyssinians and Big Youth

These trailblazing Artists are part of a golden generation of Jamaican artists and played an important role in the evolution of Reggae into a global phenomenon The Abyssinians were formed in Jamaica in 1968 as a vocal trio and are revered internationally for their close harmonies, deeply spiritual lyrics and as champions of the Rastafarian faith. Musically well ahead of their time they released one of Reggae’s greatest cultural anthems Satta Massa Gana in 1976 which is widely considered their crowning achievement. The song was unique in that it was sung partly in the Ethiopian language of Amharic. Other hits include ‘Declaration of Rights’ and ‘Forward to Zion’

Big Youth is an internationally acclaimed ‘Toaster’ whose lyrical dexterity has influenced artists from various types of dance music such as hip hop, dancehall, jungle and grime. In a career spanning 6 decades he has released countless singles and albums, toured internationally, and helped set the standard for a whole generation of Toasters/DJs to follow. He also starred in the iconic film ‘Rockers’ in 1977 and more recently in 2019 he appeared in the musical documentary “Inna De Yard"

All roads lead to the Lost Horizon on Saturday the 25 March 2023 for an unmissable night of authentic roots rock reggae.
