Misscoteque: Welcome to the Circus at Lost Horizon

A clubnight held at Lost Horizon on Saturday 8th October. The event starts at 22:00.

It's the 2nd Saturday of the month, which means it's time to funk the partiarchy! This month is our first immersive theme: Welcome to the CIRCUS! So come show off your finest top hats, suspenders, clowny make up, suits and stripes, most fabulous lady beards and taches. Think gender bending ring masters and strong 'men', think silly, think queer, think dykey Misscoteque energy. IMPORTANTLY THERE WILL BE A PRIZE FOR THE BEST DRESSED.

Misscoteque creates an intentional space centred upon queer joy and gender inclusivity. We reimagine Bristol’s late-20th-century lesbian disco scene in a 21st-century context, gathering the legacies of those underground spaces and reconstructing them at louder and prouder aesthetic and sonic volumes.

We are a LWINT (lesbian, women, intersex, non-binary, trans) space, so cis men aren't invited to the party (this includes all staff and crew). We welcome all our LWINT siblings; in particular, we open our arms towards the older members of this community. Lesbian pubs and clubs were once home to beautiful intersections of ages and queer experience, where one could go to feel nurtured and empowered by a chosen family. We want to celebrate and revive this.

The event will be soundtracked by an incredible line-up of LWINT DJs:

TFNE
DJ Ammi (vinyl set)
SPICYIVY
Jamurai
Melodramatic

All our artists will deliver disco-inspired bassy vibrations of varying flavours, including but not limited to straight up disco, synthy 80s pop, old skool and ghetto house, and a healthy dose of UKG.

The space will also feature installations from local LWINT artists as well as a very exciting and top-secret live performance from a local collective.

Tickets (£8) are available via Headfirst, RA, and Skiddle. If you cannot afford a ticket, contact us at [email protected] for a free one. Please respect that this concession is for those in less financially comfortable positions and also that minority groups will be prioritised. Of course this is not an expectation, just a suggestion and a step towards our goal of creating as inclusive a space as possible.
