A
event
held at Lost Horizon
on Sunday 17th November. The event starts at 17:00.
Hosted at Lost Horizon as part of Influx Bazaar.
Words are power, they are manifestations. A translation of our internal to our external world to spread our joy and our elation, but also to navigate through disconnection, disempowerment and shame. We communicate with each other through different styles and stories to understand what it means to be human. Language has also been used to oppress, to censor, to bring us to despair. But we can reclaim our voice, and when we express in synchronicity, we move the world.
Roux (AKA Gender Criminal) is a multi-disciplinary storyteller moving across drag, queer live, wordsmithery and community organisation. He has studied language and writing through educational pathways of Creative Writing and Literature.
In this workshop, guests will be invited to explore poetry as scripture for our rage and revolutionary dreaming. We will learn three styles of fixed form poetry, and encouraged to break rules with intention and purpose in our writings.
All proceeds from this workshop will go towards supporting Amani and her family, a Palestinian student trapped in North Gaza.
