Mad Apple Circus
The Mad Apple Rabble deliver an infectious mix of ska/hip-hop/jazz, where swing and reggae influences jump through - nothing but the good stuff.
Made up of former members from The Scrub, Slamboree and The Magnus Puto Band, they bring their sound to venues up and down the country and to festivals far and wide. In 2013 alone they made appearances at a series of festivals including Sunrise, Cloud Cuckoo Land, BoomTown Fair and Brisfest. They have had the privilege of sharing the stage with Citizen Fish, The Beat, King Porter Stomp, Babyhead, Will And The People and Hot 8 Brass Band just to mention a few.
With brilliance at the apple's core and the honed ambition to leave you dazzled, the 10 peice knock out a serious display of jumping musical fusion that's guaranteed to bury deep into the recesses of your subconscious. With the world waiting for the M*A*C shaped gap to be filled, they set about creating a sound that has staged itself as BRISTONE...
Smiling Ivy are an explosive and outspoken band from Sheffield that perform an energetic fusion of ska, dub-reggae, punk and hip-hop.
Since forming in 2007, the five-piece have effortlessly clashed activism and hedonism on records offering fans an astute and socially-aware observation of the times.
While creating danceable, floor-filling music, Smiling Ivy retain enough power and aggression to be an active fixture in the UK's rock scene. But with reverberations of dub-reggae, funk, and hip-hop, Smiling Ivy are an illustrious figure in Yorkshire's urban, rave and party scene.
Christian Carlisle, BBC Introducing Sheffield, said: 'Love it, love it, love it, love it. Those guys can do no wrong in my opinion.'
