A gig held at Mr Wolfs on Friday 29th May. The event starts at 21:00.
KARYO
Karyo's sound pays homage to the boys’ much earlier forays into funk and ska. Growing from this saw the sound develop a heavier edge and elements were gradually incorporated from the band members’ separate explorations of electronic music.
Karyo’s music is characterised by off beat guitars, swung rhythms, hip-hop/post-punk vocals and raucous brass hooks. Samples, fx and looping are used live to create exciting electronic textures and an engaging performance spectacle. Henry's vocals use metaphor and rhyme to cleverly explore controversial topics such as climate change and the UK’s messy political situation. The mood is upbeat and rhythmic with deep, punchy bass and hip-hop drums - perfect for drinking and dancing
MONKEY BIZZLE
Hailing from the depths of the west country's darkest crevices and armed with a set of technics, Monkey Bizzle set the scene alight with their rib-tickling hip-hop, funk. With more dreads than an anxiety attack, the Bizzle swing through genres with tounge-in-cheek sarcasm over the deepest of grooves that not even a lathe could cut. High energy lyrics and a Scrumpy & Western charm, like west country's The Wurzels meets the Streets, MB's own blend of “agricultural” rap makes this apt for the local crusty scene. Yet with wider appeal, it is, simply, parental advisory fun with no two shows being the same.
