Blues Boy Dan Owen
Discovered by Mick Fleetwood in the quaint hills of Shropshire, Dan Owen is the gravel voiced bluesman that sounds like he should've been born 80 years ago in the Mississippi Delta.
Dan shouldn't have been a guitarist or a singer he should have been a guitar maker. The Shrewsbury singer, who went to Meole Brace School left at the age of 16. He started work with a local construction company, making windows for Morgans. He was selected for a work placement with an Oswestry guitar maker but before he could begin an accident scuppered his plans. He was a hit in his the left eye by a piece of wood, losing his sight. With his plans and life falling apart, Dan stayed at home and played his guitar. He listened to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springteen, to Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker, to vintage bluesmen who few have ever heard of. 'I was listening to the things they were singing about and I thought: 'you know, losing an eye's not that bad', says Dan. And then in 2012, he decided to go for it. To follow his heart.
