AFTER PARTY with The Box
No one knows for certain where The Box came from but reports dating back to the swinging '60s suggest that Chuck Berry first started this epic collection of 7" records, whilst confirmed sightings during the '70s Disco era place it in New York, allegedly under the watchful care of Nile Rodgers whose influences are evident.
In the 80s, recovered shipping records show The Box was imported to the UK via the Caribbean and was now considerably heavier, having absorbed the sounds of Jamaica. In London, several mysterious anonymous enthusiasts maintained and developed the collection but reliable witness accounts state that in one unforgettable night in Camden Town, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and Madonna all handpicked tracks to a packed out party, indicating some possible keepers during the heydays of British Pop music.
The Box contains a map for the ebb and flow of pop music history. With each new addition, its essence grows stronger, and with each dance floor it graces, the grooves run deeper. It’s more than a stack of records; it is a living archive, a musical portal. When music is played from The Box, we unite with past generations; to twist and shout, to jump around, to walk on the moon and to rock the kasbah.
