AGENDA:
16:00-18:00: OPEN JAM
The only way to begin the final event of the year, featuring the best up-and-coming talent that Bristol has to offer (aka. all of YOU lot), a fully Open Jam. Come down and wail your heart out for a last couple hours, to celebrate the end of the year. Anything and everything is welcome, let’s pack this jam up to the seams with you talented folks
18:30-19:45: CONJUNTO GRINGO
Taking proper Cuban dance music from the likes of Tito Puente and the Afro-Cuban All Stars as their inspiration, this eight-headed octomonster band mix covers and originals in a splendidly jazzy evocation of Havana nightlife at its most musical.
Featuring: Andy Hague & Jonny Bruce (trumpets), Ben Waghorn (sax), Nick Attwood (trombone), Jim Blomfield (piano), Lisa Cherian (percussion) and Andy Tween (drums).
20:15 – 21:30: JOHN-PAUL GARD TRIO
John-Pauls flying footwork skills, on the rare bass pedals of his organ, are second to none. A cereally groovy player with influences from Jimmy Smith through to Larry Young and modern players such as Joey De Frencesco. The trio is his freshest line-up to date, featuring Matt Hopkins (guitar), and Toby Perrett (Drums). http://www.johnpaulgard.com/home
22:00-23:00: DELOREAN SWING
9-piece band boasting a solid chunk of the talented musicians from UoB. From Snarky Puppy to Michael Jackson, they've got the perfect mixture of Jazz, Funk and Soul.
Kate Macdonald (trumpovocalist), Reuben Matthew (alto sax), Jake Herbert (tenor sax), Tim Rabbit (trumpet), Harry Forster (trombone), Mike Deniran (keys), Joe Armer (guitar), Seb Maniura (bass) and Dae Lee (drums)
26-piece swing-heavy big band! Be prepared for a set of musical madness with a range of Funk, Swing, Latin and Pop from the most dynamic and energetic collective to come out of Bristol University - The reputation that precedes them is completely deserved. No-one else could really take the place of this lot to close the show for us at JFS. http://bigbandsoc.co.uk/hornstars/
