BRISTOL'S BIGGEST REGGAE PARTY OF 2017!
A one-off night dedicated to bringing you the best in British Reggae; combining legendary status with fresh rising talent - ranging from classic roots reggae through today's crossover genres of ska, punk, dub and dancehall.
London based Trojan Sound System are an institution in Sound System culture. A legendary team of selecta’ and vocalists, they relentlessly tour the globe representing the most seminal Reggae and Ska record label in history. For the past decade, Trojan Sound System have spread their message of love and unity through the power of Ska, Roots, Dub, Dancehall and UK Bass music, Trojan Sound System are the original crew that broke Reggae music and culture back into contemporary clubs and festivals.
Classic reggae legends are returning to their home town! Had their beginnings as a 8-piece from St. Paul’s, Bristol in 1979, and rose to prominence in the 80’s during the ‘Bristol Reggae Explosion’. Although the band no longer tour extensively they have played a series of selected live shows in the UK since 2010. Their last gig in Bristol was in August 2014 at the Trinity Centre, and we are excited to bring them back to a bigger venue for what will be a memorable set.
Formed in West London in 2014, Smiley & The Underclass are a rebel shout from a world on fire, a musical call-to-arms invoking a passion and honesty rarely seen in these times of cardboard cut-out pop- pollution. The Underclass are Punky Reggae monsters, with catchy tunes and skanks sliced together with mind-altering garage guitars.
Much loved local 10-piece band Hotsteppas will be bringing their mixture of traditional Reggae with Dancehall, Funk and Soul. Hailing from Bristol and London, Hotsteppas were formed by members of sound system crews Brockley Hifi, Fat Stash and Reggae Roast, and the band know how to get a party going, and so they’ll be opening the night with their energetic, vibrant and exciting live show.
