"Free entry! This ain’t Walt’s Wonderland! Taxidermied rabbits, slithering skulls, and countless more miniature horrors crawl from the singular mind of Czech stop-motion master Jan Švankmajer in a Lewis Carroll adaptation far darker than any of its counterparts. Technically family-friendly but also a surefire gateway to lifelong pupaphobia so… you be the judge."

A event held at Sidney & Eden on Thursday 16th July. The event starts at 19:00.
Coming up July 16th at the Indie Classics Film Club is ALICE (1988), the stop motion marvel from visionary Czech director Jan Švankmajer.
Alice in Wonderland has been adapted into many films over the years, but never quite like this. Švankmajer uses his unique imagination and talent as an animator to bring inanimate objects to life, creating a bizarre, dream-like world which Alice tumbles into following the mysterious white rabbit.
Perhaps more than any other version, this captures the dark, strange and mischievous spirit of Lewis Carroll's life. This a must for any fans of animation, Alice in Wonderland, and all things weird and wonderful!
As ever we’ll be in the downstairs room at the Sidney and Eden, doors opening at 18.30 for a 19.00 start. Entry is free, and we’ll meet for a drink upstairs afterwards.
