Coming up Tuesday September 16th at the Indie Classics Film Club is Everybody Want Some!! (2016), Richard Linklater’s warm, hilarious and bittersweet comedy about a group of baseball students about to begin college.
Whether you’re a new or returning student embarking on a new term, or nostalgic for that time in life, this film captures the excitement and trepidation of flying the nest with your whole life ahead of you. Set over the course of the few days before term time during the autumn of 1980, it follows an ensemble cast of restless, competitive jocks - including an effortlessly charismatic Glen Powell in a breakthrough role - as they explore the new lives, identities and friends
From Before Sunrise and its sequels to Boyhood, the passing of time has always been a preoccupation of Richard Linklater, and this film is all about living in the moment, and the bittersweet feeling of trying to make the most of precious moments while knowing they won't last forever.
As always, the film will be at the Sidney and Eden pub, with free entry and doors opening at 18:30 for a start time of 19:00. All are welcome to stay for a drink afterwards!
