Penny Black + J*M*A at Spirited Bristol
£10 Adv. / £12 door

A gig on Friday 14th November. The event starts at 20:00.

Join Bristol-based electro-pop artist J*M*A and Scottish singer-songwriter/producer Penny Black for an intimate night of lush synths, fat basslines, theatrical vocals and offbeat pop storytelling.
With songs that shimmer between art-pop and electronic storytelling, this Glaswegian/Bristol combo is the perfect mixer for cocktails, candlelight and connection in one of the city’s best-kept secrets- Spirited Bristol. (North Street, Bedminster)

Penny Black – Scottish singer-songwriter and producer creating lush, self-crafted electro-pop with piano, synths and cinematic flair. A singer-songwriter turned producer from Glasgow, now based in Edinburgh, Penny Black crafts cinematic electro-pop blending piano, synths and storytelling. After years gigging across Scotland, she learned production to take full creative control of her sound and Black’s self-produced album (January 2025) showcases that rich, emotional evolution.

J*M*A is Bristol-based alt-electro-pop artist and producer Jemma Roberts. Blending upbeat rhythms with quirky, often dark storytelling, her eclectic sound draws from house, dance and pop influences. Inspired by her late ADHD diagnosis, recent songs explore identity and experiences through a neurodivergent lens. With BBC Radio support, international collaborations and recent performances at The Mount Without and Machina Bristronica, J*M*A creates vivid, unfiltered music for brains that never quite switch off.
FFO: Self Esteem, Grimes, Billie Eilish.
