Winter Solstice at Springfield allotments
See event details

A gig on Friday 20th December. The event starts at 19:00.

Come and wander with us...

As we come together to celebrate Winter Solstice/ Yule.

As the seeds lay in the ground resting and the wild creatures are curled up in hibernation the longest night of the year draws in. Hope is brought, from this day forward the light will come back a little more each day.

We will gather around the fire of the roundhouse for live music from Isaac Ellis playing traditional British and Irish folk songs arranged for voice and double bass.
As well as Yuletide traditions, shadow puppet folktales, open mic, festive treats, tea and more, all to celebrate the return of the light.

Slow down and take in all the magic of the Winter season in this lovely natural setting.

Open mic: As always, we encourage anyone who wants to share a poem, story or song.

Location: The roundhouse, Springfield Allotments, Knowle

Isaac Ellis Known for his work with Bristol-based balkan folk supergroup Opa Rosa, as well as local psychedic prog legends My Octopus MInd, Isaac Ellis is known to be a reasonably talented double bassist. Now, without backing or electronic adornment, he uses both voice and double bass to craft stirring renditions of the old songs. The sound he creates between the two instruments is powerful, evocative, and utterly unique. Even for those intimately familiar with the repertoire, watching Isaac Ellis perform feels at once fresh, and yet ancient.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions
