as we gather to celebrate Summer Solstice with a live music double bill from Bea Piper and Finn Mcaleer. As well as folktales, fire, poems, open mic, tea and more.
Summer Solstice marks the longest day and shortest night of the year. We will root into the rituals and merrymaking of this ancient celebration with stories and folklore. Come and soak up the beautiful surroundings of Springfield Allotments with views over Bristol as the sunsets on this midsummer's night.
Open mic: There will be time for anyone who wants to share a song, poem, thought or story around the fire.
Bea Piper sounds like the watercolours she paints, all shapes and bold colours in memorable fragments of melody. She sings with her whole body, delivering her songs with a honeyed punch of powerful vulnerability.
Finn Mcaleer's energy in performance with the fiddle will no doubt have you compelled to dance, nod or even toe tap to his mix of western lilt and Irish jig. A rare talent.
Tea, biscuit and marshmallows for all.
Location: Springfield Allotments Andover Road, Knowle, BS4 2RY.
This is an outdoor event. Dress to stay warm and footwear for any uneven ground.
