Summer bal at St Anne's Church

A gig on Wednesday 29th July. The event starts at 19:45.

A rare one-off Bal in Bristol featuring Naragonia Quartet alongside Hartwin & Ross. An evening of outstanding live music with plenty for dancers and listeners alike — beautiful music from some of the very best. Don’t miss this special collaboration.

Naragonia Quartet brings together four of the most respected musicians on the European folk scene: Toon Van Mierlo, Pascale Rubens, Maarten Decombel and Luc Pilartz. Since forming in 2006, the quartet has developed a distinctive sound built around inventive compositions, rich arrangements and an instinctive connection to the dance floor. Between them, the group’s members are involved in a huge range of influential folk projects across Belgium and beyond, bringing together diatonic accordion, violin, mandola, guitar, bagpipes and more into a powerful and deeply musical quartet sound.

Hartwin & Ross are celebrated for their energetic and highly danceable take on traditional and contemporary folk music. Combining strong rhythm, memorable melodies and a real feel for dancers, they’ve quickly become favourites on the balfolk scene in the UK and beyond. Their music has the drive and lift of a great bal while still rewarding careful listening.

This is a unique chance to hear both acts together in Bristol for one special evening.
