Acid Zone at St George's Bristol
See event details

A gig held at St George's Bristol on Friday 11th July. The event starts at 20:00.

Àbáse (AKA Szabolcs Bognár) and Ziggy Zeitgiest present music from their individual projects as well as their new electronic duo endeavour 'Acid Zone', exploring club music.

On a quest for cosmic grooves of unity, Àbáse is the imagination of Hungarian producer and keyboardist Szabolcs Bognár. Creating an exquisite blend of jazz, West African, Brazilian, hip-hop and electronic music, he released his second album ‘Awakening’ in collaboration with Analogue Foundation in summer 2024, to critical acclaim. Created following a move to Berlin, marriage, new parenthood, and the inevitable interrogation of mortality that takes place when a loved one has transitioned, the album demonstrates a deep understanding of music’s ability to cross time and geographic boundaries, conveying a message of unity, dialogue and self-reflection.

“Certainly a producer to watch.” (Gilles Peterson, BBC Radio 6)

Producer, DJ and drummer Ziggy Zeitgeist is another international export from the thriving Melbourne music scene, first coming to global attention as drummer and founding member of Australian future-jazz collective ’30/70’. He works alongside other influential artists such as Wayne Snow, Allysha Joy and Oscar Jerome and is currently running the ‘European branch’ of the curated jazz-rave jam band ‘Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange’, gathering musicians across Berlin and
London and quickly establishing themselves as regulars on the international touring circuit. Ziggy’s music has already been championed across the breadth of the jazz and dance world, with support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Kamaal Williams and Byron the Aquarius.
