"The Cowfolk continue a run of stereotype-busting presentations aimed at dispelling racist media myths and misrepresentations of global peoples. This evening will allow Yemeni people to tell their own narrative through films and panel discussions, touching on the beauty of their history and the truth behind recent events.

on Monday 16th December. The event starts at 18:30.
Join us for the third Easton Cowfolk Radical Film Club night.
We will be showcasing some short films from and about Yemen followed by a panel-led discussion. This event will explore the often overlooked, rich, cultural and significant history of Yemen, its resistance movements, ongoing conflicts, foreign external interference, misrepresentations in the mainstream media, misunderstandings, and the beauty & resilience within Yemen that still exists amidst it all.
This is part of a wider series of screenings where we hope to watch, discuss and learn about how imperialism is shaping both geopolitics and creating preventable humanitarian disaster, death and suffering. We will discuss the fierce resistance this is being met with by Yemenis and how we, in Bristol, can organise in solidarity with them.
We will be screening the following films and some additional video clips.
“It Still Rotates” (1978, Suliman Elnour)
“Karama Has No Walls” (2013, Sara Ishaq)
“The Big House” (2013, Musa Syeed)
There are warnings for violence and distressing themes, but no age restrictions.
Yemeni food will be provided by Mandi Palace.
All money raised on the evening will be donated to Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation @yemenfoundation
