Why Do We Hate Mondays? The Marxist Theory of Alienation at St Pauls Learning Centre

A event on Thursday 18th June. The event starts at 19:00.

A sense of powerlessness is an everyday experience for millions of people In a world threatened by ecological breakdown, war, economic crisis and the rise internationally of the far right. We live in a capitalist system driven by an alien and inhuman logic of ever increasing profits - one which needs to encourage the feeling that we can never collectively exert rational and democratic control from below over global wealth in the interest of the vast majority of humanity.

But Karl Marx's theory of alienation reveals how human activity creates society and how we have the potential to create a different future based on resistance and reclaiming our human powers. It shows how we are alienated from the things we produce, from the work process itself, from other human beings, and from what it means to be human. This has huge implications for our relationships, our mental health, and for whether the human creative potential of billions can be realised.

Come along and join in the discussion. All Welcome. Hosted by Bristol Socialist Workers Party.
