This tour delves into one of the most significant collections of 20th and 21st-century studio pottery in the South West. From early pioneers of the craft movement to contemporary innovators, discover how makers across the decades have shaped the form, function, and spirit of modern ceramics.
Featuring over 2,000 objects in total – including studio and commercial ceramics, glass, sculpture, furniture, industrial design, and artworks – the Stradling Collection is celebrated for its national importance and offers a vivid portrait of British design.
On the tour, you’ll explore highlights from our extensive ceramics holdings, learn about the artists behind them, and uncover the fascinating design stories that connect Bristol to the wider world of craft and modernism.
The collection is both eclectic and engaging, often sparking nostalgic reactions from visitors who exclaim, “Oooh – we had one of those!”
