A
gig
held at Strange Brew
on Friday 13th August. The event starts at 18:30.
Gassed to welcome LAILA SAKINI to Bristol for her debut, bringing along THE SPRIGS in tow, with local hero OCEAN FLOOR starting things off. Tickets on sale now...
"In a world of overly produced and controlled music, this here is yr antidote - Laila Sakini is producing some of the most vital and brittle music of our time...perhaps the most vital and real re-configuration of traditional singer-songwriting we’ve come across since Grouper"- Boomkat
Absolutely essential for fans of HTRK, Jonnine and CS & Kreme.
The Sprigs, bursting from the cold damp earth and into the light for a short while. Slap-dash free-folk from south of the river Thames with one CD-r released via Infant Tree in early 2021, and not much else to show or tell. Characterised by Time is Away as a ‘Beautifully scrappy meeting point between diaristic real-world clatter and a particular strain of folk-pop romanticism’.
Ocean Floor is the solo project of Aonghus Reidy (b.1985), an Irish composer of electronic and instrumental music for instruments such as synthesizer, harmonium and piano. Since his debut release 'Ocean Floor' in 2011, he has released several albums of slowly evolving harmonies and soundscapes, with elements of ambient, minimalist and experimental styles. For this evening's performance, he will focus on a newer sound palette, creating honest and yearning compositions for guitar and percussion.
