Indian Classical Special at The Arc
See event details

A gig on Sunday 22nd March. The event starts at 16:00.

Inspired by the chillout rooms of 90s raves, our Sunday sessions are a gentle wind-down: downtempo music, visual art, massage and nourishing food in the wonderful sober space The Arc. We have invited the wonderful Shivani Sen back to join us at our next monthly session at the Arc, who will be hosting an Indian Classical special. This will include a special improv AV performance, as well as a talk on the genre and the chance for the audience to ask any questions. This will be a unique opportunity to learn more about the genre. LIVE Shivani Sen with Theo Archer -Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Shivani Sen has trained in Hindustani classical music for over twenty years and currently focuses on vilambit khyal — a slow, meditative classical form that evokes peace and introspection through melodic improvisation. - Theo Archer on bass and audio reactive visuals -Glassfactory works with sound as a mutable substance: stretching, eroding and reassembling it through improvisational processes. His practice moves through granular textures, resonant fragments and generative drift, treating sound less as material to be owned than as something temporarily inhabited. ART -Art supplies and a communal art wall for attendees to draw along to the music Massage Therapist MASSAGE -Claudia practises Tuina (Traditional Chinese Massage), a meridian based therapy that works through carefully chosen acupressure points to nurture your mind, body, and soul. Her style is enriched with unique Indonesian influences too.

Entry requirements: 14+, any under 18s accompanied by 21+ adult 1:1 ratio
