A
gig
held at The Be-Bop Club
on Friday 11th October. The event starts at 20:30.
Tenor saxophonist Craig Crofton is originally from the USA but has now lived in the UK for over 22 years and become one of Bristol’s best loved players in a variety of musical styles. For tonight Craig has teamed up with Hammond organist [and pianist] Massimo Merighi, who has only recently moved to Bristol from Sicily. Massimo has dropped in to a couple of Bristol’s jazz jam sessions and knocked everyone out with his hard swinging style. As a young player back in 1993 he was awarded Best Pianist at the Berklee Summer School and subsequently performed a tribute to Thelonious Monk at the Umbria Winter Jazz Festival. On guitar is Matt Hopkins, known for his work with Andy Sheppard’s Hotel Bristol, and Andy Hague completes the band on drums. Expect classic Hammond grooves in the style of Jimmy Smith and Joey DeFrancesco.
