Len Aruliah and Jared Burrows Quartet at The Be-bop Club
£9.00

A gig held at The Be-Bop Club on Friday 17th May. The event starts at 20:30.

This exciting quartet is led by saxophonist/composer Len Aruliah, featuring special guest guitarist Jared Burrows from Vancouver, Canada. With a strong contemporary European influence, especially from the late Kenny Wheeler and John Taylor, the group employs rich harmonies, powerful melodies, and engaging rhythmic textures to create an original sound that surges forward while rooted in the jazz tradition. Len Aruliah has released two albums of his own compositions in Canada, and has also performed in the UK with many groups including the Hackney Colliery Band, and the Bristol European Jazz Ensemble. An experienced educator, he is a regular faculty member at Vancouver’s South Delta Jazz Workshop. Jared Burrows is a guitarist and composer, and teaches at Vancouver’s Capilano University. He leads his own ensembles and participates in many other musical projects in jazz, free improvisation, and new music as well as in regular collaborations with musicians from India, China, and Ghana. Burrows and Aruliah are long time collaborators and have been performing each other’s music since 1990 and have performed at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in many ensembles. With a series of recordings together, they bring their eclectic and energetic music to the Be-Bop Club with Al Swainger’s rock solid bass playing and the dynamic drumming of Tony Orrell.

Len Aruliah (saxes), Jared Burrows (guitar). Al Swainger (bass) and Tony Orrell (drums)
