A
gig
held at The Be-Bop Club
on Friday 22nd February. The event starts at 20:30.
Tenor saxophonist Dino Christodoulou is often to be seen performing in Bristol as leader of jazz psych rock outfit Milon, and also plays with Bristol Afrobeat quintet Hélélé. It’s fair to say that John Coltrane has been a major influence on Dino’s playing, and tonight he brings together a quartet to perform compositions from the Giant Steps and Blue Train albums, plus some tunes by Wayne Shorter and Jackie McLean. Whilst based in Bristol, pianist Anders Olinder has spent a lot of his time recently touring with Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes and playing in London with the likes of Tony Kofi, Byron Wallen and Tony Remy. The group is completed by Bristol’s favourite Italian rhythm section, Pasqualé Votino on double bass and Paolo Adamo on drums.
