Soul Approach at The Be-bop Club

A gig held at The Be-Bop Club on Friday 29th November. The event starts at 20:30.

This new project has been put together by trumpeter Andy Hague to feature tenor saxophonist Ruth Hammond in a selection of tunes in the style often categorised as soul jazz. Besides being an excellent vocalist and pianist, Ruth’s sax playing has become a central part of the sound of Brass Junkies, Bristol’s finest exponents of the contemporary New Orleans brass band tradition. The music will feature tunes from the likes of Hank Mobley, Stanley Turrentine and Randy Brecker, with a strong hint of Blue Note. Great to have pianist George Cooper back at the club - George has been away touring with funk band The Haggis Horns, and also first visits for a while from Pasquale Votino and Andy Tween. Andy Hague - trumpet, Ruth Hammond - tenor sax, George Cooper - piano, Pasquale Votino - bass and Andy Tween - drums.
