First gig together as a quintet for trumpeter Andy Hague and tenor saxophonist Sam Crockatt. Having graduated from the Royal Academy, Sam soon established himself in London’s jazz scene as a member of the Loop Collective. His debut album Howeird won the Parliamentary Jazz Awards Best Album back in 2009. His most recent CD Mells Bells refers to his home town of Mells in Somerset, and features Kit Downes, Oli Hayhurst and James Maddren. “Haunting lyricism” - John Fordham, The Guardian. Andy should have his new CD Coming Of Age available at the gig, featuring his regular quintet, and the band will play some tunes from this as well as some jazz classics. Andy Hague - trumpet, Sam Crockatt - tenor sax, Jim Blomfield - piano, Greg Cordez - bass and Toby Perrett - drums. The programme will also include a couple of tunes by trumpet great Roy Hargrove, who passed away on 2nd Nov.
