The Deppa Hirst Band at The Be-bop Club
£10.00

A gig held at The Be-Bop Club on Friday 6th September. The event starts at 20:30.

A fantastic way to launch the Be-Bop Club's new season, the Deppa Hirst band is co-led by South African born trumpeter and composer Claude Deppa and saxophonist Clare Hirst. Claude Deppa has played with the Grand Union Orchestra, Carly Bley, Brotherhood of Breath and many more, but may be best known to Bristol audiences for the albums he recorded with Andy Sheppard back in the 90s. Alongside her jazz activities Clare Hirst has had a successful career as a pop and rock sax player with artists such as Mica Paris and The Communards, and performed with David Bowie at Live-Aid. Pianist Andrea Vicari has released several CDs of her own compositions featuring some of London's best known players, and she is a Senior Lecturer at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Bassist Dorian Lockett plays on five of Andrea's CDs, and between them they run the very popular Dordogne Jazz Summer School. Newest member of the band is drummer Jordan Hadfield, a virtuoso player still in his early twenties who is attracting a lot of attention in the current London scene. The music is fun and upbeat, with influences from both Africa and South America.

Claude Deppa - trumpet, Clare Hirst - sax, Andrea Vicari - piano, Dorian Lockett - bass and Jordan Hadfield - drums.
