See event details

A gig held at The Bristol Fringe on Saturday 11th March. The event starts at 18:30pm.

An early eve warm up for a Saturday night, and a warm up for the Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival by Bristol-and Europe's- very own Bristol European Jazz Ensemble. Playing around the UK, they are making a special night in Bristol.

'A successful mix of clearly stated, internationally flavoured, themes with quite free form improvisation, conjuring up tastes of the creativity of such predecessors as the Chicago Art Ensemble, Mingus’s ‘Tijuana Moods’, and many others, while retaining its own unique identity' (Black Mountain Jazz Club International Jazz Day 2016)

Eclectic soulful lyrical original jazz, still as a millpond one moment and swinging like buggery the next, influenced by The Middle East, the Balkans and Africa.

Featuring the BEJE TRIO Federico Leonori bass, Knud Stuwe guitar/oud and David Mowat playing NEW COMPOSITIONS by David Mowat in the first set and the sultans of groove and swing, Pasquale Votino bass, Paolo Adamo drums, Anders Olinder piano and Len Aruliah on alto sax in the 2nd set, with David and Knud joining them. Also of David's 'exceptional tunes' (Keith Ames MU magazine)

Catch BEJE here as they'll not feature at next weekend's festival
